Reaching for the stars

When is the last time that you looked out to the sky at night??? Seeing the stars, the moon, and all that have been created by God. When is the last time you dream??? Not the kind of dream that we have every night, but the kind of what do you want to be, what do want to see yourself in the future.

Lately I found that life has consumed me, I found daily activities and busyness really taken a lot of my time. Waking up, working till late, studying, shopping for groceries, cooking, eating, sleeping really time consuming. For most of us, I guess, have no privilege to sit still and just wondering what we are going to be in the future.

I guess this is a calling for all of us, just to sit still while rethinking and reinventing our self with the vision that we have. What is need to be done and what has been done. What do we want to achieve in the next 1year, 3 years, 5 years. And do we still have a mind of a 5 year old. "I want to be a doctor, a pilot, a president, an astronaut." Do we still have that privilege to think above and beyond our capabilities or has our dream shattered as our age.

Having a dream is a wonderful thing, it's fun, and it doesn't cost a think. The boundaries of our dream is as far as we can go. So, why don't you dream with me. Let's dream beyond our imagination and capabilities. Let's try to achieve it, and by that we would be greater than our past.

lastly I saw a quote by Michael Angelo in a board while I was accompanying my friend to buy a house " The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is to high that we miss it but it's too low and we achieve it."

Happy Sunday everybody!!! well, it's almost monday again, hope that you've a great weekend coz I do....played counter strike on friday, going put-put golf yesterday and went to Max Brenner today...

Anyway, I was a bit lazy at church 2day, I didn't write any notes from the preaching but I got some stuff that I got today... So, bare with me and hopefully u'll be blessed also..

Today we were speaking bout being a great father and a wonderful husband.. And I got something that probably struck my mind instantly.. It's about how men have to understand women by their language.. Hillary (the preacher) said "when a man said that he has nothing to wear,that means he has no clean UNDERWEAR to wear today.. and when a woman said she has nothing to wear, that means she has no NEW clothes to wear.." After that joke we laugh of how stupid men are that they couldnt understand how women thinks..

It's hard for man to think like women think and I think (i dunno for sure) women also have the same problem.. It's really hard to understand each other.. I guess I didn't know the best solution thou but, I'll think bout it and write it down.. For women readers over there, be patient when a man doesn't understand the way that you want to be understood.. because we, as men are just simply, stupid...hahaha...

meditation on love - day 2

Second day of meditation on love, Love does not envy..

Envy, in the love context when we look at that particular word it seems that it has a tight relationship with jealousy. I thought so too at the first time, it seems that when we feel envious when we are in love it is because we feel jealous of something or someone. We think that "Oh, she likes that other fellow than me. That's why he always walk beside her everywhere she goes. I wish I could be like her." or "I wish my man doesn't concentrate on the game every saturday. I wish he could go out with me."

I looked up some quotes on envy and when I read things about envy, it does not fully symbolize jealousy. Some of it said “Envy is the art of counting the other fellow's blessings instead of your own.”; others state “Envy is an insult to oneself.”

It seems that I discover a new kind of meaning in envy, envy is a state when one does not feel sufficient in his own blessing. Love does not envy.

Love have to accept one and another, I think that what Love does not envy means. Love have to accept the bad, the good and the ugly of the people they love. True love does not look and judge upon one's bad good but continuously giving compassion. Love does not envy others when others give an expensive bouquet of roses on valentine's day, love does not envy when one does not give a good night kiss while other does.Love that does not envy is the love that not seek attention but give compassion, it gives hope when every thing started to fade away, it sees higher when everybody look down upon.

while writing this I learned to give love compassionately without seeing who she was or what she has done, I have to show my love simply because I love her...

meditation on love - day 1

I decided to move from dreaming bout love and start rethink back on my fundamentals in love. For a couple of days,my journey entry will look back on love 101. This is my thoughts.

Day 1

"though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but I have no love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbals. and though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could move mountain,but have no love, I'm nothing"

I guess, love plays a big part in all of us. I have never seen a person living without love, even a very bad action sometimes is being done because of love. Let say a burglary, a person could be a burglar to feed their family, probably because he/she doesn't have any job. But because of love and a tight situation, they rob.

Love makes the world go round, love is the a basic program in human emotion. Without love we can not live.

Today my thought is the first rule of love. "Love suffers long and kind"

I guess it's true that without any sacrifice, love is worthless. A true love is when someone has given his life for the sake of others. Sacrifice plays a big part in loving someone. One time I read a story and it goes something like this.

"long time ago in China, lived a twin siblings, Chen and Chan. While Chen is a quite reserve guy, Chan is a very active kid. After they grown up, Chen studied hard and graduated from Law school, while Chan dropped out from school and start a gang of his own. After awhile, Chen was positioned as a judge in a district in China, while Chan is the gang leader of that district. Chan was distributing drugs, prostitutes and spirits illegally; he was a wanted man indeed. Chen never saw his brother since they went their separate way, until one day, Chan was caught by the law enforcer in the area.

And because it's a poor district, the government can only give one judge. At the trial Chen meet Chan. His long lost brother, with a different figures. Chan is now taller, his muscle is ripped, a tattoo on his left hand, a scar on his face shown that he fight a tough battle.Chen looked at him with compassion and brotherly love. When the jury states the decision and the sentences, Chen is paralyzed. The jury sentenced Chan to be shot to death. Saddened and trembled, Chen look deep into his law books and tries to find another way to free Chan. but there are no other way.

At the night before the execution, Chen visit Chan in the district jail. When he arrives at Chan's cell, he saw Chan sitting down and covering his eyes with his hands. After a long talk, he got up and leave the cell.

In the morning of the execution, the fire squad is ready to execute Chan. So they bring him to a wooden pole just outside the prison and tied him up. They cover his eyes. The firing squad fires, and bullets pierce down his flesh. And than, a moment of silence. A team of doctor is brought in to begin the autopsy on his body. After the autopsy finish, it just silence the doctor and the juries.

They found out that it was Chen that has been shot, they were so identical that no body could recognize him in the dark. It seems that when Chen visited Chan's cell that night, Chen is willing to took Chan's place. A sacrifice was made to show a brother that he's being loved."

This story just shout my mouth. This is a real love, a genuine love. Chen took Chan's place in the death sentence, even though Chen did nothing wrong. He would take Chan's place to show him, how much he love Chan.

I guess true love started with a sacrifice, without it there is no such thing as love. I learned that I have to sacrifice everything that I have; my self, my feelings, my time to show how much I love someone. Even when they reject my love, I have to sacrifice continuously to show that I really care and I truly love them or in this case, Her.

Love suffers long and kind......

Have you ever seen an orchestra before??? For you guys that are not a big fan of classical music probably you haven’t. An orchestra is a combination of musical instruments that complements each other to produce a song. In the orchestra you could find the strings (violin, viola, cello), the woodwinds (trumpets, flute, and oboe) and the percussion (drums). Individually, they can be played and make a good music but together, they could produce a new genre of music that could not be played individually (did you get that???).

The strings produce a soft gentle sound, a melancholic sound that could calms our mind. While the woodwinds tend to produce a louder sound like an exclamation point in the music. And the drums, they keep the beat on the right tracks.

To make a great concerto ( a genre of music that could only be played with orchestra), you will need a bit of everybody, the strings will need the woodwinds, the woodwinds will need the percussion, the percussion will need the woodwinds, and so on and so forth. To make a great a great concerto they NEED each other.

Same as in a concerto, the church is like a big orchestra. Each of the church members plays different instrument. Some are loud, some are soft. But in the end we’ll need to work together to make a great music.

In the bible, the roles in church could be viewed in the lives of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. These three people are quite often mentioned in the bible. Let’s look at the bible and dig deep, what is the reflection of Mary, Martha and Lazarus’ life with the roles in the church.

Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:38-42)

Martha is a type of person that serves, the easiest clue to found Martha in the church is to find a person that likes to set up chairs, sound system, cook some food, etc. We could call Martha is the workers of the church. She keeps the church in the right beat; we could say she is the hand and the feet of the church.

Marthas are not usually in the spot light, they intend to stay in the background doing stuff that can’t be seen. But, without Marthas, the church could not do some action. Just like the real Martha, church’s Marthas sometime complain to the Marys why didn’t they help out with the church’s chores. Marthas have to understand that not all people are Marthas, they have they role in the church.

Mary is the type of person that worships, they are the prayer warriors, the teachers, and they write songs and worshiping God. This is Mary’s part in the church, they cried for the church; they pray for sick people, they are the worship leaders in church.

Last but not least, Lazarus. Lazarus is a type of a person that evangelize people. John 12:9-11 says “Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.”

What is Lazarus doing in the crowd so that the priest wanted to kill him too??? It might be that Lazarus was telling his story about how Jesus raised him from the dead and Jesus is the Son of God. Because of him (Lazarus), MANY of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus. So, Lazarus is the evangelist in the church, he get out from the church and start to preach of how God’s grace works.

The church has these kinds of people Martha, Mary and Lazarus. They can’t outshine each other, they have to work together. But at the end of the time, they are God’s instrument after all.

So catcherians, we are going to combine with activaters and become infiniters. Probably right now in catchers, we don’t have much Marys, Marthas, or Lazaruses, everybody seems to have a double role. But when we combine together, there will be a separation of duties, and wouldn’t it be great??? Nobody will have a burn out anymore.

We have to work together so that we would produce a great symphony. It will be hard for the first time, just like an orchestra, it’s harder to manage 100 musicians than 10 musicians, but with more people the orchestra can produce a louder sound so that people can hear. Just like infinite, catchers and activates alone could produce a sweet sound, but together we could produce a louder voice that JESUS IS GOD!

Don’t say that YOU are not important, because YOU ARE! Without YOU infinite will have less Marys, Marthas and Lazaruses. So C’mon and join in the great orchestra of Infinite. We will make the perfect symphony for GOD.

More than words

Sebuah lagu yang cukup lama sepertinya. Lagu ini pertama kali gw denger dizaman – zaman boys band Westlife sekitar thun 2000an mungkin. Pertama kali gw denger lagunya, hanya merupakan irama yang catchy dan sepertinya romantis abis. Gw ga pernah benar – benar dengerin lagu itu dan artinya, sampai hari ini. Cukup parah emang, tapi yah namanya manusia, penuh nista dan mestapa (halah).

Gw dengerin lagu ini kembali setelah bertahun – tahun lalu di sebuah film yang baru gw beli dvdnya. Gw bener – bener perhatiin setiap kata – katanya waktu gw nonton film Love Guru kira – kira lima belas menit yang lalu. Waktu gw denger lagunya dan merhatiin konteks filmnya, dalem sii. Bagi yang belom pernah nonton Love Guru, itu harus ditonton. Emang si gayanya Mike Myers emang rada kacau n gembel, tapi intinya itu cukup dalem menurut gw.

Back to the song. Dalam sebuah scene, si Guru Pitka (Mike Myers) lagi duet sama asistennya, dia nyanyiin lagu More than Words. Ceritanya saat itu dia lagi jatuh cinta sama seorang cewek yang diperanin Jessica Alba (sapa yang ga naksir coba..haizh), tapi karena dia telah berbuat sesuatu di masa lalunya, dia masih dilarang untuk jatuh cinta sama “guru”nya. Karena dia takut sakitin perasaan Jessica Alba, dia ga berani ngomong I love you, walaupun Jessica Alba-nya emang udah seneng sama si Guru Pitka ini. Instead, dia (Guru Pitka) ini ngasih perhatian super sangat extra ke Jessica Alba, ngebuat dia comfort banget sama si Guru Pitka ini. I guess kenapa lagu ini muncul mungkin mau ilustrasiin perasaanya si Pitka ke Jessica Alba.
Waktu gw denger lagu ini, gw a bit chizzle. Gw baru belajar sesuatu lagi di hidup gw yang mungkin sudah hilang atau redup. Gw emang lagi suka sama satu cewek, it has been a long time gw ngejar dia, entah kenapa, gw ga bisa dapet – dapetin. Segala usaha jungkir balik kopral kopral udah gw lakukan tapi hasilnya gw tetep jomblo. Dan waktu gw dengerin lagu ini gw sadar kalau selama setahun hampir dua tahun gw ngejar ini (iyak kawan, gw ngejar lama kannn???) gw terlalu banyak NGOMONG ato istilahnya ngebacot dengan sukses.

Gw sadar selama ini, gw hanyalah seorang pengecut yang ga berani ambil risk, gw cuman jago kandang, kalo di SMS ato di telepon ato di MSN ajah ngomongnya wuidiihhh, tapi kalo di actionnya gw cuman bisa he eh. Bodoh emang, gw benar – benar merasa bodoh. Walaupun gw tau isitilah Action Speaks Louder Than Words, etc etc, gw ga pernah ngelakuin itu semua, sampai akhirnya gw sadar.

Walaupun sudah pernah beberapa kali jadian dengan berhasil, gw benar – benar bego banget untuk ga nyadar hal ini. Well, sh*t happens. Hmmph, kalau bole minjem kata – kata dari pengarang kambing jantan, Raditya Dika, nasi sudah menjadi dubur. Selama satu tahun lebih ini gw hanya talk talk talk and talk with no action. Dan gw yakin dia udah muntaber muntaber dengan kata – kata gw.

Dia perna bilang sama gw di email, “Bukannya kalo ngejar cewek itu harusnya bikin comfortable ceweknya yah??? Waktu gw liat lo nunjukkin perasaan lo ke gw , gw cuman bisa bilang What The HELL?! Gw bukan siapa – siapanya elo.”

Kawanku yang lagi ngejar cewek ato cowok, belajarlah dari si bodoh ini yang ga ngerti apa – apa. Jangan sampe terlambat dan ketika lo menyadarinya, dia udah ga ada lagi buat elo. Terkadang we just have to shut up and do something instead of blabber and done nothing because love grows when you actually DO something. More than Words.
